Reading time: 2 minutes

Beijing is a city that impresses, more so when one comes from Uruguay whose total population can be an area of this great city of 22 million inhabitants.

We started the activities with a celebration, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Uruguay, which was celebrated on February 3. At the reception organized by the embassy, the entire delegation accompanied the Minister Carolina Cosse and the Ambassador of Uruguay in China Fernando Lugris, who received several guests, including the Vice Chancellor, who highlighted the presence of the delegation led by the Minister, since it is very important for China to have win-win relations with countries like Uruguay. Minister Cosse highlighted the importance of relations between Uruguay and our main trading partner, and among other things stressed the importance of a sector such as ICT for the next 30 years of relations with China.

The activities of the second day were very intense, starting with a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Information Technology, where the Minister brought to the table several important issues for Uruguay, from energy issues, information technology, Chinese investments in our country, and even proposals to analyze the installation in Uruguay of a wool combing plant. All topics that were very receptive and that the Chinese officials have already begun to analyze. The Minister highlighted the attention given by the authorities throughout our visit, the delegation was accompanied throughout our stay by the Deputy Director of the international department that serves America and Oceania.

Then there was a seminar organized by UruguayXXI and CCPIT its Chinese counterpart, where the Minister explained the benefits of our country, mainly highlighting the talent and the condition of serious country that Uruguay has at international level, all relevant issues when doing business. After the lecture, the member companies of the delegation participated in a business round, where they were able to analyze with Chinese companies the possibilities of doing things together.

We ended the visits in the company Jumore, which is dedicated to e-commerce between companies (B2B), for which developed an ecosystem of services, which not only can take advantage of an ICT company, but also any company in Uruguay to market their products or services in China and the world.

We will see later the results of the mission and my impressions of China, not only from a business point of view, as it is also important in these trips to live the cultural experience.
