It is an open competition in which national teams of researchers, entrepreneurs and experts in information technology, social security and business will participate.
The challenge will consist of developing, during two days of work, a solution model and a minimum viable product or prototype, in order to solve one or more problems of social security in Uruguay through the use of technology. The 5 challenges are about bringing the BPS closer to the citizens, assisting the most vulnerable population, working on transparency, reducing informal work and contributing to the prevention of diseases.
Among those registered for the Hackathon There is a wide range of public, from minors to the over 60s. In total there are 100 participants divided into 25 teams, who will be assisted by 30 mentors specialised in different topics, who will provide technical advice, information of interest related to the welfare and social security sector and will support them in the management of the ventures.
In this competition, participants will have the chance to innovate with Uruguayan society in mind and have a real impact on the people of their country. It will be a great opportunity to learn how to develop a new venture and how to present it to potential investors, among other things, as well as to learn about the latest technological platforms available to create new solutions.
At the close of the Hackathon, the teams will have to present their solution to a jury, who will select 5 teams that will move on to the final presentation stage. These finalist teams will have 6 minutes to present their project and be evaluated by the jury, who will select the 3 winning teams. This will be the most important moment in the event's agenda, where in addition to the participants, sponsors, jurors, organisers, authorities, press and the general public will be present.
The members of the winning team will travel to the LATAM IoT & Tech Forum in Santiago de Chile, with tickets, accommodation and travel expenses included, while the second and third prizes consist of high-end notebooks for each of the team members. In addition, there will be a special prize for the best young team, made up of students from the Jóvenes a Programar programme.
