A delegation of more than 60 people departed this Sunday on the Mission to San Francisco.

Authorities, businessmen and entrepreneurs will participate in the ICT Industry Mission to San Francisco, USA, from 22 to 29 October.

This activity, organised by Cuti and MIEM, and supported by Uruguay XXI, has as its main objective to strengthen the sector's skills through the experience of the experiences and good practices implemented by the leading country in technological innovation, entrepreneurship and investment capital.

 

For one week, the main North American technology companies will receive a delegation headed by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Ms. Carolina Cosse, with the participation of more than 60 people; representatives of public bodies and organisations and prominent entrepreneurs from the Uruguayan ICT ecosystem.

 

The plane takes off from Carrasco International Airport, Montevideo, bound for San Francisco on Sunday 22 October to begin what will be a unique experience for each of the participants.

 

On Monday, the delegation will be welcomed with a cocktail reception. From Tuesday, for 4 days, the participants will visit the world's most important technology companies, technology-based incubators and other international organisations. These include 500 Startups, Puente Labs, Stanford University, Cisco, Deloitte, Google, Meltwater and Berkeley University.

 

500 Startups, Puente Labs and Stanford University

 

The group's base of operations will be Palo Alto, where the delegation will stay, and from there they will travel by special buses to all scheduled visits and meetings.

 

On Tuesday 24 October, the visits start at 10 am, when 500 Startups opens its doors to the entire delegation, to learn about the seed capital accelerator that has invested in more than 1,200 companies and listen to a talk by Marvin Liao, Partner at 500s. Also there, there will be a presentation of accelerated companies and a pitch of the Uruguayan companies participating in the Mission. Afterwards, Puente Labs and Stanford University will be visited. The closing of the first day will be at Stanford University, where Leticia Britos, Co-Director of the University Innovation Fellows, will give a talk to the attendees. In addition, there will be a guided tour of the facilities together with MBA students.

 

Cisco, Deloitte and Google

 

On Wednesday, the delegation will visit CISCO, where in addition to visiting their facilities, they will enjoy lunch and talks by the company.

 

Thursday will begin with a visit to Deloitte, where IT trends will be presented. At 12:30 p.m. the delegation will move to the Googleplex, which is the name given to the facilities where Google employees carry out their work.

 

Meltwater and Berkeley University

 

On the last day, visits will be made to Meltwater and Berkeley University, where the delegation will have lunch, visit the campus, and listen to the presentation "Berkeley's startup ecosystem, venture capital and entrepeneurship", by Adam Sterling, Andreas Ramos, George Kopas.
