UTEC inaugurates this Friday the Instituto Tecnológico Regional Centro-Sur in Durazno - in the premises located in the streets Maciel and Morquio where the hospital Dr. Emilio Penza was previously located. The building has an approximate surface area of 3,500 square metres and a total capacity for 2,000 students.
Almost five years after its launch, the Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC) inaugurates its second Regional Technological Institute, the ITR Centro-Sur.
The event will be attended by the members of UTEC's provisional Central Board of Directors: Graciela Do Mato, Pablo Chilibroste and Rodolfo Silveira, as well as national and departmental authorities, legislators, heads of institutions of the National Public Education System (SNEP) and representatives of the productive sector.
In February 2016, a gratuitous bailment was signed whereby the Municipality of Durazno granted the University the property located in the old hospital, which was destroyed and abandoned.
At the end of April of the same year, work began on UTEC's South Central RTI.
The recovery of the existing infrastructure is interspersed with new internal facilities and the creation of a new two-storey building at the back of the site.
