On Wednesday 24 October, the Julio Ricaldoni Foundation of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Republic awarded two scholarships to Computer Engineering students. Out of 11 applicants, the winners were Noelia Cabrera and Rodrigo Bentancor, two students who began their Computer Engineering studies this year.
María Simón, dean of FING and president of the FJR, Gustavo Guimerans, member of the Evaluation Committee, Martín Alcalá, representative of the promoting companies, as well as the two scholarship students spoke at the event.
María Simón, decana de FING y presidente de la Fundación Julio Ricaldoni, agradeció a las cuatro empresas que otorgaron los fondos y dijo que «es una de las mejores inversiones que pueden hacer ya que están generando mayor formación».
Martín Alcalá, representante de las empresas impulsoras de las becas, destacó que «no solo los vamos a apoyar con capital sino que las puertas de nuestras casas están siempre abiertas». Además destacó los datos y las oportunidades de la industria TI, donde «la contribución de los jóvenes es muy importante». «Esta industria tiene un gran poder transformador y nosotros como país podemos crecer si sabemos aprovecharlo», concluyó.
The four companies involved in supporting funding for these grants were: Tryolabs, Moove It, CodigoDelSur and Digital Forces.
