On April 27th will be the second edition of "Techy for the day", a program organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (Cuti), which seeks to encourage and promote greater participation of women in the technology sector.
From Cuti, Victoria Diano told InfoNegocios that this program is part of the global celebration of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) who organize "Girls in ICT" (ICT for its acronym in English), which is a day to raise awareness about the lack of women in the technology sector.
"Techy for theday" is a program where several partner companies of the Cuti will open their doors to daughters, nieces, sisters and teenage friends of their employees to learn firsthand how the industry works, the possibilities offered to them, the environment and dynamics. In addition, leading women in the industry will tell them how they have developed their careers and how they have matched it with their personal lives.
This experience aims to promote the attraction of girls to the technology sector and is carried out with the aim that every year more people join this workforce that today is made up of only 32% of women in Uruguay. "The idea is to be able to present the industry so that more teenagers consider it in their professional future," explained Diano.
The companies confirmed as of today are: Abstracta, Arkano Software, Altimetrik, Inswitch Solutions, Kaizen Softworks, Pyxis, Globant, Ingenious Softworks, Itapúa Consultores, Ledefyl S.A, Quanam, UruIT, Sonda, Onetree and GeneXus.
