The curriculum of the Technological University (UTEC) is made up of a total of 12 careers, in addition to those of computer technologist and chemical technologist, which are taught in agreement with the University of the Republic (Udelar) and the Council of Technical Professional Education (CETP-UTU).

To create its educational offerings, UTEC conducted a demand study that took into account social, economic and cultural factors, Silveira told the president's office.

Among the careers with the highest demand are Information Technologies, with 70% of its content not attending classes; Mechatronics, unprecedented in Uruguay so far; Logistics at the Fray Bentos and Rivera sites; and Food Analysis, which emerged as an educational continuity, he said.

During its first year of operation in 2014, UTEC's student enrollment was 34 students, a figure that rose to 836 students three years later and in 2018 to more than 1,400. With the addition of the number of people attending shared majors, the figure totals 1,600 students today.

In the first generation of students, the average age was around 30 years old, but nowadays there is a drop in the average age, which led the authorities to implement more classes in the morning hours.

In four years of operation, UTEC has graduated 100 students, a number that Silveira described as "very important" because all of the graduates are now working in the labor market in areas related to their training.
