"There is no other country that offers better conditions to install a company that operates in the region," Cosse said in the Chinese city of Shenzhen (southeast), according to statements reported by the website of the Presidency of Uruguay.

Cosse said that in Uruguay there are more than 600 IT companies, which work in a climate of institutional reliability.

He also highlighted Uruguay's connectivity with the rest of the American continent and the well-known state program that provides a computer to every school and high school student, Plan Ceibal.

"Institutional reliability, ease of doing business, quality of talent and access to the Americas allows companies to start by setting up a business unit, and then progressively grow their operations by establishing more activities and functions in the country," the minister said.

The Uruguayan contingent, made up of 30 businessmen, mostly from the IT sector, government representatives and representatives of the state-owned company Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, has been in China since Wednesday 31 and will remain there until Tuesday 6 February.

Uruguay exports information and communication technology products and services to 52 countries.

The U.S. is the main market, with between 50 and 60 percent of sales, followed by Argentina, with seven percent, and other destinations, such as Spain, Switzerland, Japan and Colombia, each with five percent. (Sputnik)
