The Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, through the National Livestock Information System (SNIG), launched a mobile application for livestock producers who are users of the system. Producers will be able to use the application to carry out procedures that are managed through the SNIG web portal.
The presentation was made by SNIG Director, Dr. María Nela González and SNIG Development Manager, Tec. Mario Andrés Rodríguez, at a press conference on Wednesday 9 November.
The SNIG Producers application, developed by GeneXus Consulting in consortium with ICA and SONDA, is now available for download in the Google Play Store. Those who use it, with the same user registered in the SNIG portal, will be able to manage their transactions. It will be possible to make animal queries, process death, discard caravans, re-identification, loss, among others.
The Director of SNIG informed that this is the first application of others that are in process. She also explained that the action is part of the commitment established by the Presidency to take advantage of available technologies to facilitate access and speed of procedures for all those administered.
González indicated that in 2013 there were 2,000 users, then with the mandatory field control it rose to 7,000 and this year with the entry of the electronic affidavit there were 15,000 new users. "It is a satisfaction that producers are adopting these available tools. The idea is to be more efficient and effective in the policies we are applying," he said.
