In the history of mankind, there have been different pandemics with millions of victims, however, the one we are facing today appears at a time of transformation towards the digital era, where technology has played a key role in disseminating information and as a facilitator in the measures to contain the spread. This role of technology in the current scenario shows the need for everyone to adopt a change towards new dynamics in the way of doing things.
The pandemic in this context has made companies and individuals immediately adopt the use of technology as the main support for business continuity and productivity, but also to stay socially connected. The development of activities from different places than usual requires the use of collaborative work tools that are now available to everyone.
A large number of companies have already had these tools for some time, as a result of their transformation processes towards the digital era; however, now in the business environment it is time for users to get involved in a definitive way and transform the way in which they work in synchronization with other members of their teams.
The challenge today is found in sectors with different dynamics to the business ones, such as the education sector which, since the beginning of this pandemic, had to reinvent itself and find different ways to continue educating virtually at home, in some cases without being technologically prepared for this challenge or being reactive to this context.
Virtual learning environments are becoming an alternative in the midst of the current context, and it is necessary to start taking advantage of them. Through these environments, educators have a great opportunity to offer a different experience with the use of didactic material that invites innovation and interaction between the different members of the educational community. It is also possible to continue with those dynamics typical of physical classrooms, such as teaching a class, but using an interactive board and even perform remote evaluations by checking the identity of the person taking the test. As an extra benefit, by recording the classes you can start to build a digital library that serves as reference material for the community; also for educators and institutions is available statistics of attendance, attention and use of the material provided through these environments. The same can be implemented by businessmen to continue carrying out knowledge management within the companies.
The current times have made it necessary to rethink the way we live our daily lives. Once this situation passes, there will surely be a change in the course and in the way we educate, work and interact. It is time to take the technology that is thought to be exclusive to business fields to other fields and thus become architects of change.
